Some days ago we introduced you to the new book of Kathryn Borel Jr., «Corked: A memoir». Well, it seems that we are going to have a Q&A interview with her after all in which, she will share with us her secret plans about life, job, her first and second (?) book and so on…
The Q&A will be officially posted to www.newsfilter.gr (for which, as a founder, I’m very proud) in Greek. But, since the interview is going to be in English, on the first place, it would be a waste to be made available only for the Greek audience. Therefore, I’m going to post the original, English text, here.
You can help too! Send the questions (by leaving a comment to this article) you’d like to ask Kathryn and I’ll make sure that the best of them will be included. You have until Friday, 6th November, 2009 so hurry up.

( You can find the original post of this article, in Greek, to www.newsfilter.gr. No plagiarism, it was posted by me as well! )
«Corked, A memoir», by Kathryn Borel Jr. A book about herself, her father and… wine. The history about a journey to the province of France, wherever wine is produced. A journey with two destinations. The initiation of the daughter to the secrets of wine, and therefore her father’s.
Kathryn Borel Jr. was born in Toronto, Canada. Her father was a hotelier. She has a younger brother. She spent her first years living in various hotels to finally settle in Quebec, Canada. Later, personal reasons made her return to Toronto, where she still lives. She works for Canadian Broadcasting Company making food and wine reviews in print and for radio. She is the author of the column «Indignities». «Corked. A memoir» is her first book to be published.
Apart from her exceptional writing skills and her special pen, we could say that Kathryn Borel is a really interesting vidcast persona. You can see for yourself in the videos that follow where you’ll find Kathryn prologizing her brand new book in a rather playful way.

I recently heard from a dear friend (tnx imoschak) that Eclipse’s plug-in Visual Editor became available for later versions such as Ganymede and Galileo. And suddenly I was happy! And I couldn’t wait to give it a shot. I found the time today and…

Recently I had to visit family. The house is located about half an hour (by car) from where I live. Given that Thessaloniki (my town) is kind of small I usually walk. When there is rush, or the distance is very long, or the weather sucks, I take the bus. I enjoy moving around the city by bus for several reasons. The fact that I am not the one driving gives me the advantage to read, write, text somebody, think, ponder, dream or do nothing at all. Also, in the bus I am allowed either to be sitted, or standing and that gives me a sense of multiplicity of choices. Or freedom if you prefer.
Anyways, the whole visiting family thing was an emergency thus I had to take a cab. To be honest when I entered the cab I was skeptical and in a really not in the mood of talking. So I sat, informed the taxi driver of our destination and waited silent. Apparently, the driver was not, under any circumstances, sharing my psychological condition and… he started speaking. Non-stop!
At first I was irritated and I ignored him. But after a couple minutes – he was not at all discouraged by my response to his short speech – I noticed a pretty good structure and logic to his reasoning. It seems that this guy had three basic principles by which he has his life organized:
Now I am sure that there are many cases (I can already think about three) to which one or more of the above rules do not apply. But then again every rule has it’s exceptions.
I can say that the perception of this guy about the world, money, job really impressed me. Not only he was living his life according to the above rules but he could see every situation optimistically.Correct or not, this man knows how to live his life, carefree.
This is the exact reason why I hate autumn…

It’s cloudy and foggy here in Thessaloniki (Greece) today and I have a slight suspicion that I have the blues. So what about some Irish Alternative Rock?

Do you know the feeling when you bookmark articles hoping to be reading them on a peaceful Sunday morning along with a cup of hot black filter coffee (or instant if you are Greek like myself :p)?
And then, this Sunday morning comes, but it is not peaceful because you have to do all this kind of stuff that arose and you have to delegate reading… again. Now if this happens for some weeks in a row you come up with so many bookmarks that turn the beautiful scene I described before to a nightmare where you, caged in front of your screen, seek to regain control of your Read & Review material (speaking in GTD terms).
That sort of thing happened to me lately and I ended up with very many articles waiting for me to read them. Once the volume exceeded my average peaceful Sunday morning reading time threshold (PSMRTT), Ι decided to attempt achieving balance again by tossing both outdated articles and those of little importance (for me!).
Although that made things better, still, PSMRTT limit was not reached. That led me to the next logical step. To toss more of these bookmarks, an unpleasant procedure if we take under consideration that I spent time to spot and store these bookmarks (identifying the «good» stuff is the hard part). In the end I came up with two collections of bookmarks:
The dilemma I am facing now is whether to delete the second category or keep it as a future Read & Review cellar. To be honest with you neither satisfies me so I decided to do something else. I will attach the articles of the second collection in the end of this article (in hyperlinked titles format). This way, public will benefit from my harvesting procedure (hopefully no outdated articles are included) and I will keep these bookmarks in one place, available for future reading (given the time). «I shall name this procedure ‘krap’ harvesting and ‘krap’ harvesting will be called from now on every time it occurs».
